NEC Corporation, a leader in global IT and network transformation services, and Juniper Networks, a leading secure, AI-driven network provider, recently made announcements regarding their collaboration with Algeria Telecom, the country's largest telecommunications company, to roll out a state of the art, nationwide IP metro commercial network to keep up with the existing demand for better capacity as well as future needs powered by 5G and FTTx.
Algeria Telecom has developed a mid-term strategic
plan to build a transport network with a homogenized, optimized topology and
automated capabilities that ensure bandwidth and infrastructure future-proofing
in a rising market. Algeria Telecom's next-generation IP metro network was
successfully deployed by NEC and Juniper while delivering quality of service
and driving toward the finest possible user experience at scale.
Additionally, Algeria Telecom has chosen Juniper
Networks' high-performing, secure solutions for SDN-ready, cloud-grade
networking and feature-rich, simple, and secured connectivity at scale as the
innovative foundation of the new platform. These solutions will be deployed as
access nodes to create separate pre-aggregation, aggregation, and access
domains for optimal reliability.
They have further introduced elements of the
Juniper Paragon Automation cloud-native solution suite, including new window dragon Pathfinder and new window dragon Planner, allowing it to get deep
visibility and simplify management of its network and services. This opens the
door to dependable user experiences in complicated 5G and multi-cloud services.
To build an easily-managed, streamlined, and open solution, all Juniper systems
run on a single operating system, the new windowJunos® OS.
NEC, on the other hand, drew on its substantial
transport network integration and engineering expertise to create best-in-class
solutions that were dynamically adapted to Algeria Telecom's needs. NEC also
managed the entire project as a 'One-Stop Network Integrator,' leveraging its
worldwide and local expertise in everything from network analysis and
consulting to design, implementation, migration, and functioning of
high-capacity networks.
Furthermore, the strong association between NEC
and Juniper, which has a track record of delivering innovative networking to
hundreds of customers around the world, has enabled the parties to work closely
together to achieve Algeria Telecom's goal of providing a high-capacity
innovative network to accommodate surging data traffic and a future of
diversified 5G use cases.
"The successful completion of the IP metro
network modernization project by our partners, NEC Corporation and Juniper
Networks, will allow us to migrate to IPV6 and begin the digital transformation, as
well as the installation of high-speed internet," stated Mr. Adel
Bentoumi, CEO of Algeria Telecom.
Allahoum Hocine, Algeria Telecom's Head of IP Core, also put through his views in the same regard. "The tremendous growth of
network traffic is a clear indication of the need for network modernization and
extension," he said.
"NEC and Juniper have been highly responsive
to our technical and commercial needs, acting as an extension of our team with
their great local engineering capabilities and unwavering commitment to quality
of experience and on-time delivery." Overall, Juniper's innovative
technologies for enabling this automated metro cloud architecture have aided us
in meeting our strategic objectives and thriving as we prepare for 5G.",
he further added.
According to Brendan Gibbs, Senior Vice President,
Juniper Networks Automated WAN Solutions-"Networks have always been a
valuable asset for service providers, but in the 5G and cloud era, they will be
the cornerstone for all aspects of business transformation. Algeria Telecom is
ahead of the curve by investing in an open, agile, and automated network
architecture that will enable easier operations, enhanced economics, and
greater end-user experiences.’’
"Our customer-centric approach and
uncompromising quality are deeply ingrained ideals in our culture," stated
Hideyuki Ogata, General Manager, NEC Corporation's Service Provider Solutions
Department. "This, together with our domain experience at the NEC 5G
Transport Network Center of Excellence (CoE) in EMEA, gives us confidence that
our expanded participation through this agreement will help Algeria Telecom's
business continue to succeed and advance", He added.
